July Collective Stuff

It's the end of the month again! I must say July has been a really good month for me, and for that, I'm very grateful... Some very very nice things happened: moved in to a new apartment unit with my good friends Ekai-neechan and Bryan-niichan... And we went to the Oh-No! Manga Cosplay Camp just yesterday -- our official cosplay debut! Ohohoho~!

I'll get into some more details regarding that, probably in the next post. But for now, here is one for the different stuff I've acquired for this month.

From Watsons:
Pure Beauty Treatment Conditioner -- my third bottle!
Solo Care Aqua -- my favorite lens solution
Olay Total Effects Moisturizer -- this is for my sister
Cyleina Black Pearl Soap -- this was my last one...

From Etude House:
Happy Fresh Foam in Witch Hazel -- a replacement for my Happy Tea Time Cleanser
Drawing Show Creamy Liner -- my first gel liner!
The pomegranate mask is a freebie.

From Tony Moly:
Oil Blotting Film -- these are my favorite!
Masquerade White Eye Mask -- I'll see how this fares on my horrendous eyebags...

Again from Etude House:
Lip & Eye Remover -- I'm on my second bottle
Foundation brush -- I'm liking this one!

Two boxes of cotton pads for Php85 only -- my only purchase from Saizen this month.

Okay, the next photos are from our "got-all-crazy" shopping at Trinoma. You see, we can't go there much often, and it was like a couple of years back (yes, you read it right) since I last went there. Landmark Trinoma is HEAVEN!

Grey beanie from Khush

From Daiso:
Face masks
False eyelashes -- love the clear band and oh-so cute spiky design! Perfect for cosplays and gyaru eyemake.
Pink bunny cellphone charm

From Suesh:
Touch Beauty Super Mini Heated Eyelash Curler
Hair velcros -- a must for my thick bangs
False lashes -- I thought these were bottom lashes. Boy, was I wrong. Fuuuu...

From Landmark:
Cinema Secrets Spirit Gum -- for cosplay...
Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation -- my first liquid foundie!

Brush set -- It reminds me of Ecotools... These babies are so cheap, yet so dense and soft and they work so well! Love it!
White Rain Hair Spray -- again, this is for cosplay...
Hollywood Style Whitening Lotion -- Urgh...

These next photos are my online purchases...

Rohto Lycee Eyedrops for Contacts -- from Geisha's Secret. My eyes are thanking me for this! The Minnie Mouse calendar is a lovely gift along with my purchase.

GEO lenses from my favorite shop Dolly Eye Shoppe! Some of these are for my friends...

I'll post some photos and reviews of some of the items here. But for now...

Rina-chan's Thoughts On: Watsons Deep Cleansing Nose Pore Tape

"Eeep!" I shrieked one day as I looked at the mirror. Not because I got scared of my own reflection (LOL!), but I saw teeny-tiny black and white 'dirt' on my nose. Yep, the dreaded blackheads and whiteheads. I actually don't get much pimples or acne though I have oily skin, but these annoying -heads are my main enemy. And so the quest for a good remover began.

I've been using Saizen's charcoal nose pack (which are pretty okay by the way, if not for the mess), but being the curious cat I am, I wanted to try something else. So I grabbed a box of Deep Cleansing Nose Pore Tape from Watsons on one of my visits to their Alimall branch.

This is your typical white nose patch that you apply by wetting your nose area with water first, then stick the tape, making sure to cover the sides of the nose properly. Do something else for 10-15 mins while waiting, then peel it off. Carefully.

Okay... GROSS ALERT! 'Cause I need to show if it works, right? Please pardon the icky stuff. I'll just leave the photos small, heehee...

Eww... Hahaa!

I like...
...that it's affordable at Php99 per box with 10 sheets.
...that it's easy to use and not messy.
...that it's easily available in Watsons branches.
     ...the cute enough packaging.

I'm neutral about...
...the scent. It smells like uhm, strong herbal-something. For lack of a better description.
...its effectiveness. It wasn't able to remove all the whiteheads in one go. Though I'd say it's pretty decent.

I don't like...
...the fact that it's only able to remove a bit, almost none, of the blackheads.
...the pain when peeling off the patch. But as they say -- no pain, no gain.

I think this performs better when the pores are open. So you can use steam or wash your face with warm water first, or dab your nose area with a washcloth soaked in warm water. In my case, I wash my face with Baviphat Mango Steam Scrub before using the patch. Then finish with rinsing the face with cold water to help close the pores.

Overall, I think this is still worth a try but not really recommendable. As for me, I'll still continue the lookout for effective blackheads and whiteheads remover.

Rina-chan's Thoughts On: Careline Oil Control Blush-On

Another long overdue post, hahaa! This time, I'm reviewing another perfect example of a product that defies the "if it's cheap, it must suck" norm, especially in cosmetics and skin care. And here I have Careline Oil Control Blush-On in Rosy Cheeks. With Vitamin E for healthy skin!

As you may know by now, Careline is a local cosmetics brand which is a 'sister' of Ever Bilena (by the way, they make great blushes too!). Honestly, I find this blush-on pretty much similar to EB's. Same formulation, is it?

One day, while traipsing the aisles of Robinsons Supermarket, this cute little blush-on caught my eye. I have a couple more blushes in my makeup stash and most of the time I prefer using up one before moving on to another. But at the time I thought this blush-on will be good for experimenting, so I still picked it up. Oh yeah, experiment I did, and this is now one of my favorite blushes!

I like...
...the color! It's very wearable and gives a healthy glow.
...that it's very pigmented. Just a bit gives you the right amount of color so this should last you a while.
...the fact the it's very affordable! Hello, Php80 for 5g?
...its lasting power. Definitely comparable to higher-priced blushes. And to think my face is an oil mine. Performs better with primer.
...that it's got a lot of other shades to choose from.

I'm neutral about...
...the packaging. Looks and feels cheap. They could certainly use a bit of cuteness here. But hey, who am I to complain when it does the job so well? Though to be fair, the case itself is pretty sturdy.
...the fact that there's no mirror. But then again for the price (duh)...

I don't like...
...the puff. Pretty useless, if you're gonna ask me.

Okay, so cheap packaging aside, I'd definitely recommend this!
Hmm... Thinking of getting the other shades, hahaa!
